Grease traps are a must for restaurants, cafes, school kitchens, and other food-service properties in Kennesaw. When fats, oils, and grease move into your drain lines, they can harden, restrict flow, and create messy backups that disrupt business fast. In the greater Atlanta area, older plumbing infrastructure and heavy kitchen use can make those problems show up even sooner.

Here’s the thing: a grease trap is designed to separate grease from wastewater before it reaches the sewer line. That protects your plumbing system, helps reduce odors, and supports compliance with local requirements for commercial kitchens. If you’re noticing slow drains, foul smells, or grease showing up where it shouldn’t, our grease trap plumbers can help with inspection, cleaning coordination, and grease trap plumbing in Kennesaw.

We know how frustrating it is to have a kitchen issue interrupt service during a busy shift. Nobody wants to deal with clogged lines, standing water, or the risk of a shutdown. Integrated Plumbing Solutions provides honest recommendations and responsive service for businesses in Kennesaw and nearby communities like Acworth, Canton, and Cartersville. Call today to schedule grease trap service.

Signs You Need Grease Trap Cleaning

Grease traps in commercial kitchens need routine cleaning to keep wastewater moving the way it should. When grease, food solids, and sludge build up inside the trap, drainage problems, odors, overflows, and compliance issues usually follow.

  • Unpleasant odors: Strong smells near sinks, floor drains, or the trap itself often mean grease and waste have been sitting too long inside the system.
  • Grease showing up near sinks or drains: If you notice grease in sink basins, around drain openings, or near connected piping, the trap may be overloaded or not separating waste properly.
  • The trap is more than 25% full: Once grease and solids take up too much space, the trap stops working as intended and usually needs service.
  • Slow wastewater flow: Water that drains slowly toward the sewer line can point to buildup inside the trap or a restriction in the connected line.
  • Food and solids collecting in the trap: Excess solids reduce capacity and can lead to backups, odors, and frequent service issues.
  • Sewage overflow: Overflow on the floor or backup into sinks is a sign the trap or connected plumbing needs immediate attention.
  • Toilets not flushing properly: In some commercial buildings, drainage issues tied to a full or restricted grease system can affect other fixtures nearby.

How Grease Trap Pumping Works

Grease trap pumping removes the grease, oils, solids, and wastewater that collect inside the trap over time. If that waste stays in place too long, the trap loses capacity and the kitchen starts dealing with slow drains, odors, and backups.

During service, our grease trap plumbers inspect the trap, open the unit, and remove the waste that has built up inside. We also look at the condition of the trap, the baffles, and the connected lines so we can tell if the problem is only a full tank or if there is a plumbing issue that needs repair.

If the system has recurring trouble after pumping, we check the surrounding commercial plumbing to see if a blocked outlet, damaged fitting, or failing component is causing the problem to come back.

Benefits of Grease Trap Pumping

  • Helps prevent drain buildup: Removing grease before it hardens in the trap or nearby lines reduces the chance of clogs and slow drainage.
  • Supports cleaner wastewater flow: Keeping grease out of the sewer system helps reduce problems farther down the line.
  • Helps keep your business operating: Routine service lowers the risk of backups, odors, and kitchen downtime during busy hours.
  • Keeps plumbing moving: A properly maintained trap helps connected sinks, floor drains, and branch lines work more reliably.
  • Supports compliance: Regular cleaning can help businesses stay ahead of grease trap requirements and avoid preventable issues.

How Often Should You Clean Your Grease Trap?

The right cleaning schedule depends on how the kitchen operates. A restaurant that produces a lot of grease will usually need grease trap pumping more often than a business with lighter use.

Common factors include the type of food being prepared, how much grease goes into the system, the size of the grease trap, and if the trap is shared with other businesses on the property. Some traps need service every few months, while others can go longer between visits. If you are already seeing slow drainage, odors, or overflow, it is time to have the system checked now rather than wait.

Grease Trap Plumbing in Kennesaw

Grease trap plumbing in Kennesaw includes more than cleaning out the trap. The inlet line, outlet line, fittings, baffles, and nearby drains all affect how the system performs. When one part fails, the kitchen usually notices it quickly.

Our grease trap plumbers take a whole-system approach. We inspect the trap, explain what we find clearly, and recommend the next step based on the actual condition of the system. That may include grease trap pumping, repairs, line clearing, or replacement of damaged components.

If you are dealing with an active backup or overflow, we can also help with emergency plumbing service.

On August 5th 2006 we had an emergency situation where 2 of our 9 toilets toilets were overflowing and the rest unable to flush due to fear of overflowing (the water would rise and slowly recede). The first company (I will not name) came out and decided that the job was to big for them.
Integrated sent Thomas and Christian out that afternoon. They worked several hours until they found the problem.
Thank you Thomas and Christian for sticking with it. We have about 40 people working in this facility and this saved us from have to shut down.
