It only takes one hard freeze to burst a pipe and flood a home. Atlanta winters are mild most of the year, but when temperatures drop into the teens, unprepared plumbing systems in Kennesaw and the surrounding area take the hit fast. Integrated Plumbing Solutions has been protecting homes from freeze damage since 2012, and our licensed plumbers know exactly where your system is most vulnerable before the cold arrives.

Plumbing winterization is the process of preparing your pipes, fixtures, and water-using appliances to handle freezing temperatures without cracking, bursting, or failing. It covers everything from insulating exposed pipes in crawl spaces and attics to checking your water heater and making sure outdoor lines are properly drained. The work takes a few hours and costs a fraction of what a burst pipe repair and water damage restoration will run you.

Greater Atlanta’s older housing stock adds another layer of risk. Homes built before the 1990s often have copper or galvanized steel pipes running through uninsulated spaces that were never designed with hard freezes in mind. If you haven’t had your system checked before winter, now is the right time. Call today to schedule your plumbing winterization with Integrated Plumbing Solutions.

Benefits of Plumbing Winterization

Most homeowners don’t think about their pipes until something goes wrong. Winterization flips that around, catching problems before a freeze turns a small vulnerability into a major repair. The benefits go well beyond avoiding a burst pipe, and they add up quickly over the life of your home.

  • Burst Pipe Prevention: Frozen water expands with enough force to split copper, PVC, and galvanized pipe. Proper insulation and pipe wrapping keep water moving and temperatures above the danger threshold, even during the coldest nights.
  • Lower Emergency Repair Risk: Burst pipes rarely happen at a convenient time. Winterization dramatically reduces the chance you’ll be dealing with a plumbing emergency in the middle of a cold snap, when service demand is highest and wait times are longest.
  • Water Heater Protection: Your gas water heater or electric water heater works harder in winter to maintain temperature. A pre-season inspection catches sediment buildup, failing elements, and pressure issues before they become failures.
  • Outdoor Fixture Preservation: Hose bibs, irrigation lines, and exterior shutoffs are the first things to freeze. Draining and capping these lines properly prevents cracking and saves you from replacing fixtures every spring.
  • Long-Term System Health: The stress of freeze-thaw cycles wears on joints, fittings, and seals over time. Annual winterization slows that wear and extends the useful life of your entire plumbing system.

Homeowners who skip winterization often discover the cost of that decision in February, when a pipe fails inside a wall and water damage spreads before anyone notices. The repair bill typically includes not just the plumbing fix but drywall, flooring, and sometimes mold remediation on top of it.

What Plumbing Winterization Involves

A thorough winterization starts with a full walkthrough of your home’s plumbing system. Our licensed plumbers check every area where pipes are exposed to unconditioned air, including crawl spaces, attics, garages, and exterior walls. We identify which lines are at the highest risk based on your home’s construction, insulation levels, and the location of your main shutoff.

From there, we insulate exposed pipes using foam pipe wrap or heat tape where temperatures are likely to drop below freezing. Outdoor hose bibs get shut off at the interior valve and drained so no standing water remains in the line. If your home has an irrigation system or a secondary water line, we walk through the proper drain-down procedure with you or handle it directly.

We also check your whole-home plumbing for any existing vulnerabilities, slow drains, or aging fittings that could become a problem under the stress of cold weather. If there are drain or sewer issues that could compound a freeze event, we flag those too so you can address them before winter arrives. The goal is to leave your system ready for whatever the Atlanta winter brings, not just the average cold night but the outlier freeze that catches everyone off guard.

We Have The Expert Solutions for Your Plumbing Problems

Why Choose Integrated Plumbing Solutions for Plumbing Winterization?

Integrated Plumbing Solutions has been a locally-owned, family-operated business since 2012. We’re not a franchise or a private equity rollup. When you call us, you’re talking to a neighbor who has seen what Atlanta winters do to unprepared plumbing and knows exactly how to prevent it.

Our plumbers are licensed, and our trucks are fully stocked so we can handle most winterization work in a single visit. We don’t diagnose problems and then schedule a second trip to fix them. If we find an issue during your winterization walkthrough, we address it the same day whenever possible. Customers consistently tell us they appreciate that our technicians explain what they’re doing and why, rather than just handing over an invoice.

With over 875 five-star reviews and a 4.9-star Google rating, our track record speaks for itself. We offer 24/7 live answering and emergency service because freeze events don’t follow business hours. Financing options are also available if a larger repair or system upgrade comes out of your winterization inspection. Call today and get your plumbing ready before the first freeze hits.

Douglas Do you wear? Dominguez diagnosed the problem. I didn’t know it was having with my water pressure in my regulation valve. Also changed out my expansion tank, which had failed changed the piping to copper. He was very patient with me explaining everything he did why he did it and the front cost. I was originally going to change out my water heater, but doing that extended the life of it so I don’t have to do it right away.He did a great job.

Integrated Plumbing Solutions...What can I say? I have used them for years and never had to have them come back to redo a job. Office staff, Lori, is very pleasant, friendly and is most gracious to work with! Communication to my email and phone are excellent! Matt Benyamin is very knowledgeable, a hard worker and friendly. He checked out all of our water devices and noticed that our expansion tank to our water heater did not measure up. The company was called the night before, returned call next morning (our choice)and out within an hour to fix water leak in laundry room downstairs. Very happy...very satisfied...and definitely my go-to plumbing company! Thank you, Matt, for a super job!

I use Intergrated Plumbing for services in my rental apartment in a luxury condo high rise building because the technicians are knowledgable, professional and very courteous. The company’s pricing is also fair and reasonable. My technician for the most recent job, Corbet, was excellent and very detailed in his explanations and invoice which I provided to the building management office. I highly recommend Integrated Plumbing and will use them for my future plumbing projects.

SEPTIC PUMPED - GREAT EXPERIENCE! We had our septic back up and had toilets and showers overflowing onto the floors on a Saturday night (during a UGA game!) I called Integrated Plumbing Solutions and spoke immediately to a REAL person who dispatched Thomas Porter to my house and he arrived 90 minutes after I called to handle this emergency problem! Communication and professionalism were 10/10! Efficient and diagnosed the problem, dug up the septic and pumped it and was gone within 90 minutes. Very fair pricing for a Saturday night emergency and super nice people. I called 6 places and they were the only ones that were able to come out - now that is service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for all your plumbing needs!!

Integrated Plumbing Solutions was recommended by my former plumber when he retired. Very easy to schedule an appointment and Douglas Dominguez was very friendly, explained everything he was going to do, and corrected things that were installed when house was built with out me asking just because it was the right way to do it. Would definitely call IPS again for any work and would see if Douglas was available to perform the work.

Corbet exceeded my expectations in providing superior customer service for the water heater I purchased from them a few years ago. My service call was to inspect & flush my water heater and while Corbet was onsite, I added another job of replacing the outdoor spigot which was leaking. He was open to answering all my questions as he performed each repair & explained them in layman’s term. He arrived on time & was professional, courtesy & friendly as the same with the office staff. I highly recommend this company! I couldn’t be more pleased with the price & the service provided!
